About This Field
Cwmblacks dog field is approximately 1.5 acres of interesting paddock enclosed with 5ft deer type fencing just outside Merthyr Tydfil.
Accessing Cwmblacks Dog Field
Cwmblacks is located just at the top of Merthyr Tydfil in Glamorgan in Wales and is really easy to access from the main ring road around the town. The field is set back from the main road and is very easy to find.
Once you come off the main road, the field is located directly in front of you – a large sign directs you to the two car parking bay in front of the field. This field is not drive in so you will need to put your dogs on the lead before getting them in the field – especially as it is on a road.
Access to the field itself is through a air-lock pedestrian gate which can be locked from both sides.
What’s it Like?
Once in the field you’ll find a really lovely paddock. This field has a wooded corner, with a mound at the end, a few large logs to play on and a good length of flat meadow to chase balls.
By the gate there are separate bins for general and dog waste as well as disposable dog bowls (great idea), hand sanitiser, spare poo bags and a boot brush! There are poo bags located at several points around the field so no excuses!
There is a wooden shelter which gives a full view of the field – great if it rains or is freezing (as it was when we visited). Inside there’s a picnic bench and the area is on stone gravel so you can even avoid getting muddy feet in winter.
Lastly, there is an area you can wash off your dog before getting back int he car. The field was a little muddy when we visited in November but not ‘full-bath’ muddy!
It is worth noting that this field is a little noisy but with that comes it’s very convenient location on the outskirts of town. Do not expect a confirmation email or text, you will only get a confirmation from the payment processor.
This is a lovely field and certainly very convenient, especially for those travelling on holiday through Wales.
